About Bob Scher...

Bob Scher served from 1995 to 2000 as president and chairman of a major computer-industry consortium, and was re-elected each year because he was able to unite intensively competitive companies in a spirit of cooperation. Under his leadership the organization grew from eight to 80 corporate members, over half in the Fortune 100. As a featured speaker he participated in many large industry-related events. He is currently CEO of BoldElephant, Inc., a new company in online adaptive learning. Before entering the computer industry, he scripted and directed award-winning documentary films, one of which, narrated by Orson Welles, is in three international film museums, including La CinÈmathËque FranÁaise and The Museum of Modern Art. He is the author of Lightning, the Nature of Leadership (2003), with photographs by Jane English, The Little Know-How Book (1993), and The Fear of Cooking (1984). His many articles include those in Parabola, The Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), and The American Mathematical Monthly.

Jane English has a unique place in the East-West exchange of knowledge.
